The 7 steps for your JAMB Registration

Below are the ultimate 7 steps that you should follow in order to successfully register for JAMB. We have taken all the JAMB registration requirements and we have broken them down into steps.

Follow these steps one after the other and tick them off the list.

Step 1 – Get a new and Active Phone Number

Nigeria network service providers

A new and active phone number is one of the most important JAMB registration requirements.

This is because you can only get your JAMB profile code if you have a mobile phone number.

Your phone number will also be included in your biodata and tied to everything related to your JAMB profile

You can buy a SIM card from any of the network service providers in Nigeria  (GLO, Airtel, MTN or 9mobile).

This phone number must be unique and unrelated to any other JAMB registration.

Avoid using the phone number you used to register for JAMB the previous year.

Notice: It is recommended to get a new SIM card. Do not use the phone number of another candidate, not the one you used for JAMB registration last year.

Step 2 – Get your National Identification Number (NIN)

National Identification Number NIN

You must have a NIN number to register for JAMB.

Your NIN number will be required to generate a profile code for your JAMB registration.

The National Identification Number (NIN) is a code of eleven (11) digits that can be found on your NIN slip.

This code is compulsory for the JAMB exam.

How do I get my NIN?

To obtain your NIN number, go to a nearby NIN registration center.

The following documents are required to obtain a NIN number for your JAMB registration:

• Birth Certificate

• Local Government of Origin Certificate

Bear in mind that NIN registration is free, but because so many people register every day, the NIN slip may take several weeks or months to arrive. You may have to pay up to N3,000 to expedite the process and receive it within one week.

Notice: If you do not have an NIN yet, it is important for you to go to the nearest NIN office and register as soon as possible

SELF HELP: If for any reason you cannot find your NIN slip and you have already registered for NIN, dial *346# and then select “NIN Retrieval” by typing in ‘1’.

Step 3 – Generate your JAMB Profile Code

JAMB Profile code

Now that you have gotten a NIN, the next step is to get your JAMB profile code.

The JAMB profile code is a ten-digit number used during registration.

There are 2 ways to get your JAMB profile code using your phone number.

You can send a text message or you can use a USSD code. Make sure you have some airtime in your phone before you begin this process.

To send a SMS text message: type the word “NIN”, give space and add your 11 digit NIN Number on your NIN slip and then send to 55019 or 66019. For example: NIN 00123456789

To use a USSD code: dial *55019*1*NIN# or *66019*1*NIN# on your phone.

JAMB profile code generation costs fifty naira (50).

Once this is done, you will receive your profile code via SMS to the same phone number

SELF HELP: To recover a lost JAMB Profile Code, resend a text message or dial the USSD code as instructed above from the same mobile number to 55019 or 66019.

Step 4 – Purchase your JAMB E-pin

JAMB ePin

The profile code generated in the previous step is what will be used to purchase your JAMB ePin.
