All you need to know about University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) 2024

University of Port Harcourt, popularly known as Uniport is one of the most popular universities in Nigeria. It is located in Choba, Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

It was established in 1975 as a university college before it was upgraded to a full-fledged university in 1977.

Currently, Uniport is the most rated Nigerian university, and the 6th most rated university in Africa, according to Times Higher Education, among its other accolades.

Admission requirements

Every candidate who wishes to study at Uniport must meet the following criteria before they can be considered for admission into this top tertiary institution.

For UTME candidates:

They must have reached the age of 16.
Candidates must have at least 6 (six) “Cs (Credits)” grades in their O’level result (s). This must include English Language, Mathematics, and three other subjects related to their course of study.
Candidates must score at least 180 in the JAMB examination
Candidates must take UNIPORT post UTME screening examination and must do very well in the examination (Depending on the course of study)
SSCE results accepted for admission into the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) must not be from more than one sitting.
Candidates must choose the correct subject combination for their preferred courses.
Candidates must meet the set cutoff marks for their courses to gain admission into the university.

For Direct Entry candidates:

Candidates must possess at least five (5) Credits in their O’level result. This must include English Language and Mathematics. Note: two sitting result is not allowed.
Candidates must have also reached the age of 16.
Candidates should get JAMB Direct entry form from JAMB to apply.
Candidates are expected to have any of the following certificates: OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A level, BSc, HND, ICAN
