OOU Postgraduate- Application, Requirements, Admission list (2024)
There are many courses of interests attracting graduates of different disciplines to OOU to pursue postgraduate studies and we are going to list them out and the requirements needed to nail a place in OOU postgraduate school.
Requirements for OOU Postgraduate School
The basic requirement for all courses is five credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings in G.C.E., WASCE or SSCE.
Postgraduate Diplomas
- A recognised University degree in relevant discipline
- Higher National Diploma (HND) in relevant disciplines from accredited programmes of study from approved Polytechnics with a grade not below LOWER CREDIT.
Master Degrees
- Olabisi Onabanjo University or any degree from recognised University in relevant disciplines. Such a degree should not be below Second Class (Lower division).
- H.N.D. in appropriate discipline with minimum of Upper Credit as an accredited programme of study of any recognised Polytechnic.
- H.N.D. in appropriate discipline with Lower Credit plus Polytechnic Diploma may be considered. Other professional qualifications by the University Senate such as PGDP, AIB, ACA, ACII, ACI and ACIS may also be considered.
- For the professional Masters Degree programmes as opposed to research Masters degree, qualifications adjusted to be equivalent to first degree, e.g. ACCA, ICAN, ACIS could also be considered satisfying entry requirement into these programmes.
- Doctor of Philosophy, (Ph.D) Programme:
- Graduates of Olabisi Onabanjo University who hold Masters degree in relevant disciplines and who have obtained a weighted average of at least 60% and above in the relevant course work and project, and have been recommended by the Faculty for direct admission to the Ph.D. programme.
- Graduates of Olabisi Onabanjo University who hold Masters degree in relevant disciplines but who obtained a weighted average of 55% and 59% in the course work and project shall be admitted provisionally to the M.Phil/Ph.D. programme.
- Graduates of other approved Universities recognised by Senate who hold Masters degree in relevant disciplines shall be admitted only to the M.Phil./Ph.D. programme and assessed not later than the end of 2 semesters of full-time registration or 4 semesters of part-time registration for the M.Phil/Ph.D. degree programme.
Professional Degrees (MPA, MBA and MBF)
- Degrees from recognised University not below Second Class Lower
- HND Upper Credit and above OR HND Upper Credit plus Post HND Certificate.
- HND Lower Credit or B.Sc./B.A. 3rd Class plus relevant PGD course
- ACA, ACIS, ACII with five credits in not more than two sittings.
